OBSCURE DISTURBING MOVIE #14

MARTYRS-2008

One of my favorites if not my favorite horror movie of the decade. This has everything I love in a movie suspense, gore and a fucking great story. France was the place for good horror in the 2000's. This film truly blew me away. Highly recommended.

Summary-
Years after she escaped from an icy torture chamber in an abandoned slaughterhouse, Lucie enlists the help of her closest friend, Anna, to track down the family who tormented her and exact her revenge. But when Lucie and Anna investigate further, they discover that they've only scratched the surface of an unspeakably vile secret organization.

OBSCURE DISTURBING MOVIES #15

MURDER SET PIECES-2004-UNRATED VERSION

This is like a mix of Maniac and American Psycho. The film really looks great for 2 mil. and is shot on 35mm film not video like people have claimed. The acting is so so but for a low budget film it's passable. So you ask why is it disturbing, well it has really brutal rapes with violence, chainsaw through the head, child killings, slit throats ,tons of blood and one scene where he takes his son out of his crib and lets him find his dead mothers body covered in blood while the child is screaming the whole time. This film is packed with sleaze, nudity and blood but really has no story, just a neo nazi serial killer slicing up hookers and kids. Has a couple of cameos with Gunnar Hansen and Edwin O'neal where he warns about the dangers of hitchiking. Not too disturbing for me, but it would clear out a room of normal horror fans in minutes. Pretty good for a flick made in the 2000's.

This was picked up by Lions Gate to make a quick buck and released on DVD. Do not rent that worthless piece of shit, it was horribly cut for an R rating and they removed all the gore and taboo bashing scenes it reports to have on the cover. Buy the directors cut or download it if you have to.

OBSCURE DISTURBING MOVIES 1-15

So with this list I will count down the my personal most disturbing list. Some of these movies might not be the goriest "although some are" but no one can deny these are some of the most brutal films ever made. I have not seen a few films yet that could make it on this list someday. So here goes, i'll start with what is watchable to utterly no social value except to shock and push the envelope, which in itself is an accomplishment. So here goes starting with #15.enjoy.

VHS BOOTLEGS!!

Just a quick follow up to my mainstream most disturbing list. All of the movies I listed all have DVD releases and some have two discs or special packaging and tins. What the fuck, these movies are all sick, vile grindhouse classics that don't view as well as remastered letterboxed works of art. These movies should all be viewed on VHS preferably bootleg VHS if you can find em. I originally got most of these as bootlegs on VHS back in the day and those versions just seemed to leak sleaze right out of the screen.I think this is the closet way to watch these movies as they were intended. Call me a purist but why would anyone need Cannibal Holocaust on blu-ray?? Even if you don't watch these on a 3rd or 5th generation VHS which is pretty impossible these days, get em used on VHS it's pretty close. it's probably gonna be cheaper than buying them on DVD anyway. So I found this clip on youtube that has some of the flicks from my list and its made from VHS to VHS to record the clips. ENJOY!! DISTURBING MOVIE #1

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST-1980

Yep here it is, although this is not really mainstream to most, it makes most disturbing lists all the time, lumped in with totally unheard of films, so that's why im adding it on the mainstream list. Another movie that is really hard to sit through, but is worth a watch at least once for fans of the genre.

A New York anthropologist named Professor Harold Monroe travels to the wild, inhospitable jungles of South America to find out what happened to a documentary film crew that disappeared two months before while filming a documentary about primitive cannibal tribes deep in the rain forest. With the help of two local guides, Professor Monroe encounters two tribes, the Yacumo and the Yanomamo. While under the hospitality of the latter tribe, he finds the remains of the crew and several reels of their undeveloped film. Upon returning to New York City, Professor Monroe views the film in detail, featuring the director Alan Yates, his girlfriend Faye Daniels, and cameramen Jack Anders and Mark Tomaso. After a few days of traveling, the film details how the crew staged all the footage for their documentary by terrorizing and torturing the natives. Despite Monroe's objections, the television studio Pan American still wishes to air the footage as a legitimate documentary. In order to change their minds, Monroe shows the station's executives the film's final reels, so they could see first hand how the crew's fate came to be.

DISTURBING MOVIE #2

COMBAT SHOCK - 1986

Gritty, disturbing nightmare movie about a pathetic Vietnam veteran living in poverty in New York City, who's slowly disintegrating mind finally snaps after one too many days of unemployment, loan sharks, a nagging wife, flashbacks and, worst of all, his constantly crying baby, monstrously deformed as a result of his exposure to Agent Orange. Relentlessly downbeat, and filled with horrific imagery of violence and drug abuse, this may be too much for many viewers to take. Borrows a bit from ERASERHEAD and TAXI DRIVER, but does so fairly well, with good performances, a seedy atmosphere and some imaginative directorial touches despite it's ultra low budget. Released on DVD by Troma for the first time in its uncut form, this is a movie truly worthy of rediscovery. One of the most depressing movies ive ever seen.
